SMS with java.April 12, 2004I have had the kannel SMS gateway installed on my computer for a long long time but Ihave never before tried to send an SMS through java (J2SE not J2ME). Had a look at some of the java libraries around they all seem to have one problem or another. Some of them are related to problems with the java serial port drivers. The driver available on the sun site are ancient and doesn't look like they are being maintained. I downloaded and installed the linux version on my machine - the so looks like it's made for solaris and when the sample code is run it complains about this shared object being missing. Too bad cause I was on a windows machine the other day and the windows version seems to work well. I used it successfully with JSMS and annoyed my friends with a flood of messages.
