More on maildir

May 15, 2004

Infodancer is an attempt to provide java implementations for many of Prof. D.J Bernsteins ideas. I downloaded infodancer only because it contains a Maildir implementation in java, closer inspection reveals that it has support for other stuff including a folder named qmail. Infodancer also contains APIs for blogging and message boards and many other things besides.

Though I wanted to explore these further, I found that I didn't have some of the dependencies such as Log 4J. Thus unable to compile the software at first attempt, it went in to the backburner for a later retry.

That retry came yesterday when I finally downloaded LOG4J and gave it another go, now it's asking for the orielly upload parser.

The other implementation I was looking at javamaildir, isn't really worth writing home about. That's because there is a saying if you don't have anything nice to say keep your mouth shut.
