The Site With the Lamp

Is it a bird? is it a plane? is it's superman? no it's dust. Dust on my D70S low pass filter. I made a startling discovery today, if you shoot something in the distance wtih the aperture set to 22, the dust specs appear to be very well defined but the same spots appear very faint when you shoot at something like 4.5

This time the white specs definitely are birds

btw; both images aren't all that sharp, because my telephoto lense is busted and can't afford a new one.
