Puppy Linux on a Macbook.

March 6, 2007

After downloading and burning the pupply linux ISO on a disk, I tried to boot my macbook with it. It was a roaring success and started up with out any glitches even though forcing the macbook to boot from the CD was another matter all together.

I had read a lot of cock and bull about pressing various keys at startup to force the macbook to change the way it boots. None of those key combinations worked for me. The macbook always tried to boot from the CD then I booted back into puppy and ejected the disk. Afterwards the system refused to start up at all. Or rather the boot loader second stage grinds to a halt saying there isn't a bootable disk.

In the end I found a boot camp FAQ that said you can press the option key to bring up a boot device selection dialog. That saved the day.
