Direct Access to the Colombo Joke Exchange.

March 26, 2007

CDAX; The Colombo Direct Access system; provides online trading facilities at the Colombo Stock Exchange (which should really be called the Colombo Joke Exchange).

They have released a new version (6.0) of CDAX, as often happens with software, the new version is worse than the old. They have not fixed any of the silly installations issues in the previous version, and they still have three separate downloads for windows, linux and OS X (even though the software is in java). What's really bad is that the software doesn't even work.

What do I mean by it doesn't work? Well usually there is supposed to be a ticker with the prices and volumes of each transaction. There are supposed to be several trackers and monitors. All of them are blank today. Today is a day when the market has decided to go on a nose dive, thanks to the attack by the LTTE on the Katunayake air force base. Perhaps the reason that the market hasn't dropped off the radar screen altogether is because CDAX has been knocked out?

How do I know that the market is open and functioning? there is an equally lame system used by some other brokers and it's working fine today.
