Old Bigma Vs New Bigma.

So what's the difference between the new Bigma (or rather the current Sigma 50-500 mm lens) and the old? No one seems to know for sure. The guy at Phototechnica did tell me that the new one focuses better. He says with the older lens, auto focus went haywire close to the 500 mm end. That apparently has been addressed with the new bigma but you don't find any mention on it on their site.
It's darn hard to find information on the old Bigma. There is no mention of the older '50-500mm F4-6.3 EX RF HSM' lens on the sigma site. It's at times like this that the way back machine comes in very handy. It had a cached page from 2005 with information on the older model.
Comparision with the new model ( APO 50-500mm F4-6.3 EX DG HSM) doesn't reveal much. This is all that the sigma website site is willing to say:
