The Sinclair Spectrum was my first computer about 17 years ago. I was twelve years old at the time. In 1987 it was extremly unusual for a 12 year old to have a computer but my farther was a programmer at the time and he made sure I had a head start.

The spectrum was a wondefull thing, permanent storage was magnetic tape - the same tape that was used for music. It didn't have a monitor you had to plug it into the Television - that meant there were constant family rows cause everyone elese wanted to watch TV.

It had all of 16 Kilo Bytes of RAM on it, you get more than that on wrist watches now.
