Tomcat 5

It has been a long long time since I last played around with Tomcat. The last version I worked with was tomcat 4.1.27 and that itself tells a story. I had it configured to collaborate with my apache installation via the JK connector. However in the process of making numorous changes to apache this connection was broken (it happened long before I switched to Apache+SSL). All in all tomcat has been cat napping for quite some time, so I decide to give version 5 a go.

The new version supports the Servlet 2.4 and JSP 2.0 specifications but not having read either of them yet, I am in no position to comment on them. I can at least get familiar with the javadocs for the new specification as I work on this.

What's most impressive about the new version is the documentation. It's immensly readable and does not look like an after though. I thought the docs from the older versions were rather disconcerting.

I was thinking of running tomcat under daemontools, and did a quick search to see if anyone had tried it and one of the first usefull results was from infodancer. I keep bumping into him.
